Concert hall

De Bijloke Music Centre in Ghent is a historic site of exceptional importance. This building is unique in Europe's medieval architectural heritage. The heart of the music centre – now the Concert Hall – was built in the 13th century as a huge hospital ward.

The showpiece of this colossal medieval hospital ward is undoubtedly the overwhelming oak roof, a fine example of medieval craftsmanship. In recent decades, it has been restored with the utmost respect and transformed into a modern concert hall with a capacity of 830 seats.

Cabinet & Anatomical Theatre

The anatomical theatre of the Anatomical Institute dates from the late 19th century and served as a classroom for the university's medical faculty. During the restoration, it was decided to retain the authentic wooden benches and equip the room with state-of-the-art audiovisual and multimedia facilities.

The cabinet of the Anatomical Institute was built at the end of the 19th century as a museum for anatomy. In addition to being a museum, it was also used as a study room and later even as a linen room.

After thorough renovation and restoration, this magnificent space has been restored to its former glory. The beautiful lighting, combined with the authentic glass wall cabinets that cover the entire wall from top to bottom, create a cosy, pleasant atmosphere and make the space ideal for exhibitions and intimate lectures or concerts.

Both spaces have a capacity of 80 people.
