Singing, making music and discovering together! Through these activities, we encourage creativity, resourcefulness and imagination in children and young people. Through musical projects, we take them on an inspiring journey of discovery into art, heritage and music. In this way, we encourage children and young people to form their own opinions and develop their listening skills.

The activities we organise in schools have a positive impact on the future lives of children and young people: they help them express themselves more effectively and gain a better understanding of artistic concepts and musical expression. Through our projects, we encourage young people to think critically and use their imagination, whilst stimulating their own creativity.

By focusing more and more on this with children, young people and schools, we contribute to the development of insights and skills that complement mainstream education. Our activities range from playful musical workshops for pre-schoolers to inspiring sing-along projects for teenagers.

‘I want to make classical music accessible to a young audience. By allowing children to experience culture, you inspire them for the future. Art and culture fit perfectly with the way they view the world: with a thirst for discovery. Muziekcentrum De Bijloke has been offering a modest range of youth activities for years, but I still see plenty of potential for growth.

We are further expanding our network in youth and education and collaborating with welfare services and social partners. More than ever, I want to break down barriers. We are making financial investments ourselves and literally taking our programme out into the city. This makes De Bijloke more visible and accessible.

Our new, accessible youth programme is there for every child, regardless of their cultural, social and demographic background. Music has an emotional power that everyone understands, and that means it can be shared across all ages and cultures.’
